01 · Build the family and identity file
Collect the death certificate, deceased’s identity documents, heirs’ identities and documents explaining family relationships. Include wills, probate papers and previous proceedings without assuming they automatically settle the Egyptian position.
02 · Map the assets you know
List unit numbers, project names, contracts, receipts, correspondence, company interests and other leads. Mark each asset as confirmed or unverified.
03 · Plan lawful enquiries
Ask what authority and evidence are required for each institution or record. There is no promise that a single search will reveal every Egyptian asset or private bank account.
04 · Define the power of attorney
Specify whether the work covers enquiries, court representation, documents, administration, receipt of money or a proposed sale. Sale, compromise, waiver and distribution powers should reflect informed instructions rather than an unnecessarily broad template.
05 · Review liabilities and competing claims
Identify loans, charges, maintenance balances, co-owners and disagreements between heirs. Ask which matters must be resolved before transfer, sale or distribution.
06 · Choose transfer, division or liquidation
Compare the documents and approvals needed to register inherited interests, agree a division or sell assets where legally available. Require a clear record of costs, proceeds and the agreed distribution process.

Death certificate, identities of deceased and heirs, relationship documents, wills or probate papers, property contracts, known asset information and prior authorisations.

Does being a relative automatically allow access to every asset or a sale?
No. Authority, heirship, applicable law and the relevant asset’s documents require review. A foreign probate document or general power of attorney should not be assumed sufficient for every Egyptian procedure.
